Just before the National Hockey League settled its’ labour dispute a few weeks ago, the following remark was heard in a Kerrisdale Arena dressing room: “if they (NHL) don’t settle soon, the CBC may have to resort to televising a Kerrisdale Oldtimers’ hockey game – that’ll get the NHL players back on the ice quick.”
The local “Boys of Winter”, officially called Kerrisdale Oldtimers Hockey Association, has in fact grown to two divisions now – and it all began around a Kerrisdale kitchen table about 35 years ago, says KOHA spokesman Hal Gray.
